Paul Gonzalez                  
        On May 31,1998 the body of Paul Gonzalez (18) was discovered on the beach near Ned's Point Lighthouse. It was determined Paul had been shot five (5) times. Two (2) unloaded firearms were recovered near his body.
      A trail of blood leading from his body to a marsh area led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing white envelopes.  These envelopes were separately addressed to the Cabral residence, the Vermette family, the attorney representing David Vermette, and the prosecutor. Each contained a letter written by Paul and a tape recording of Paul confessing to the March 11 shooting incident. A book, which contained documented drug sales conducted by Paul was recovered near his body. 

Investigation
 David Vermette (19) was charged with murder. David and Paul were involved in a shooting that took place in Freetown on March 11, 1998. The victim was Shawn Cabral. Shawn's sister, Lisa Cabral was David Vermette's former girlfriend. Investigators claimed David killed Paul in an attempt to cover-up their involvement in the shooting.​
