                  Judith Szatek & Raymond Frenette 1965             
       On May 1, 1965, Judith (21) & Raymond (21) were parked down a deserted dirt road 150 feet off Bullock Road just two (2) miles north the Dartmouth town line., The couple was engaged and were both enrolled in college, Judith at Fitchburg State, and Raymond at SMTI (now UMass Dartmouth). For reasons unknown Judith was shot three (3) times in the chest and Raymond was shot four (4) times in the head. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes along with the windshield and door window were shot out.
     Seven (7) .22-caliber shell casting were recovered from the scene. Robbery was ruled out as a motive, since both Judith and Raymond still had a small amount of cash and their personal belongings.
    The couple was seen entering the deserted roadway at approximately 7PM the night they were murdered. Their bodies were discovered the next day approximately 12:30PM. The medical examiner determined the time of death was 10:30PM. 
   On May 6, 1965, Robert Garron (19) of Berkley was charged with murder. A witness reported to investigators Robert's vehicle was seen leaving the deserted roadway that night.

   Robert was committed to Bridgewater State Mental Hospital. ​On April 29, 1966, Robert was acquitted by reason of insanity.

On October 2, 1987, at approximately 7:00AM the body of Edward Cereto (18) was discovered on Ledge Road inside the Fall River/Freetown State Forest. Edward had been shot six (6) times and suffered burns to the right side of his face and beard. Six (6) "410 gauge" shotgun shell casings were found on the ground in the vicinity of the body. There were several shoe impressions or sneaker impressions around the area of the body as well as tire tread impressions.

Investigation Summary 
   Edward Cereto was homeless, at the time of his murder and was living in a septic tank at M & S Concrete Company in Fall River.
     Bruce Frank, Kevin Costa, Steven Costa and Michael Costa assaulted Edward and then loaded him into the truck of Steven Costa's vehicle and drove towards the Fall River/Freetown State Forest. On the way to the forest, Bruce Frank stopped at his apartment to get his shotgun and ammunition.
  Kevin Costa stopped the automobile on a dirt road. Edward was removed from the trunk. Bruce Frank then shot the victim three times. Each of the men then took turns shooting Edward. 
   Investigators determined 
the treads on the tires of Costa’s Pontiac Grand Prix matched the treads found near the victim’s body. After being confronted with the evidence, Steven Costa provided a verbal and written statement implicating himself, Bruce Frank, and his cousins Michael and Kevin Costa in the murder.

   Steven Costa was convicted of 1st-degree murder and kidnapping. He was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole additionally a concurrent 8–10-year sentence for kidnapping.

    Kevin was convicted of 1st-degree murder and kidnapping. He was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole additionally a concurrent 8–10-year sentence for kidnapping.

   Bruce was convicted of 1st-degree murder and kidnapping. He was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole additionally a concurrent 8–10-year sentence for kidnapping.

  Michael plead guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping.

​     On May
 17, 2009, approximately 1:45 AM Troy Pina (29) was a passenger along with Wayne Rice (41) (murdered in June 2009) and an unidentified female in a vehicle, being operated by Francisco Monteiro, traveling on Route 24 southbound. Two (2) vehicles came along side and fired multiple rounds, from six (6) different firearms at their vehicle. Troy was struck once and was deceased a short time later at St. Anne's Hospital. The intended target was
Francisco Monteiro. 

Investigation 2011
   In March of 2011 authorities arrested Thomas Jeffreys (30), Marcus Mitchell (20), Jose Fernandes (23) all of Taunton. These three (3) men called themselves the "Supreme Team" which was the name of their drug distribution enterprise.   It was determined four (4) members of the "Supreme Team" actively participated in the killing; several more helped cover it up, including by hiding the firearm that was used in the shooting and by conspiring to kill a potential witness. The firearms were later recovered.

Verdict 2014 Thomas Jeffreys  
   Thomas was convicted of 1st-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Verdict 2014 Marcus Mitchell & Jose Fernandes   
    Marcus and Jose were convicted of 1st-degree murder, armed assault to murder, and firearms charges. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. 
  • Andrew Taylor 2010

      On January 22, 2010, Andrew Taylor (25) was reported missing to the Freetown Police Department.
      On January 23, 2010, Andrew's rented vehicle, a 2009 Toyota was discovered parked near 88 Jones Street in Fall River. The vehicle had been reported to Fall River Police as abandoned resulting in it being towed by Big Wheels Towing in Freetown. 
      On January 29, 2010, Freetown Police used special tools to open the trunk to conduct a vehicle inventory for the missing person investigation. Upon opening the truck, the body of Andrew Taylor was discovered.


Verdict 2011 James Lapre
   James Lapre (24) plead no contest to 1st-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. ​James also was sentenced to a five (5) year sentence for failing to report a death.   ​
